Got a problem with my tranny leaking. Thought it was the speedo cable but I guess not. I capped it off. After I drive it I have a huge puddle of fluid on the floor. It,s not the seals or converter, they are all dry. Can a bad pan gasket leak that much. It has been rebuilt but I have never seen a gasket leak that much before, just a lot of drips. After a couple of short trips I have to put a quart or more in it.
Guess I need to just replace the gasket and see what happens. It is always by the shifter cable bracket.

Pan gaskets can and do leak. It is a good idea when you have a trans pan off to check the bolt holes, they "dimple" in and you need to hit them with a ball peen hammer to flatten them back out. Do not use silicon on the trans pan it could get in the trans and play hell with your valve body, use gasket cinch.

Not an expert, but sometimes, there are seals that are letting miniscule amounts of air into the trans and cause it to bubble and overflow. . . Just a thought.

Hmmm, never heard of that. But were would it overflow at. It is really strange that it doesn't seem to leak until after it sets awhile. Even the undercarriage is clean and doesn't have air splatter like it would be leaking while driving.

Thats what my truck did, there is an overflow tube somewhere if its a T-350 on the passenger side near the front of the pan, I think. Or it might simply overflow where the fill tube meets the actual transmission. I just remembered what that is called "Fluid Foaming".

So how did you fix yours. Take the tranny out and tear it apart again.

Check the shift shaft seal when they leak it looks like the pan is leaking.

In my case i was lucky enough to be able to change the pan gasket and the o-ring type gasket on the fill tube and it was ok. . . But there are so many different seals that could be foaming, that it is hard to tell, and foam rises, and it all drips down to the bottom, so you never really can tell exacitally where its coming from. Good luck man.
