last night I took my luv on a test drive after installing new trans cooler lines, B&M shifter, and the vacuume line. I noticed when I took off it shifted on its own into second gear while the shifter was in first. Then after coming back home I put the shifter into reverse and it was like there wasnt anything there so I ran the shifter through all the gears and back to park then back into the reverse possition and it worked. I checked the fluid level and it was on the full mark. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would double check the cable's adjustment. sometimes your selector will say its in R but the cable really has it kind of right in between N and R and it will not do anything. I believe when i set them up i put the shifter in 3rd gear and the get under and click the lever all the way back and then up 2 clicks before putting it in and installing the cotter pin in. The reason that is is the lever on the trans swings in an arc motion so when its in D or N its in the middle of the arc and more of a neutral (not gear wise) position. if you adjust the cable and put it in when its in 1st or P then it could be a little off.
also...
what is the vacuum source for your vacuum modulator?

I had to drill and tap a hole in my intake manifold for the vacuume. The intake is a weiand tunnel ram.

I know when I put in my B&M shifter, it was kinda tricky, and you had to get it right on the money as far as adjustment went or else it wouldnt shift right. I believe it said on my package--- If adjustment is not correct, you will damage your trani on the very first shift 8O .

I read the part that mentioned trans damage but I didnt read the rest probably should try adjusting it from 3rd gear as mentioned above
