Im fabricating some brackets for a pipe bumper, but I'm went through 4 blades cutting this 3/16 sheet of steel. Then I 'm using a combo of a drill press and hand held drill (had to drill 2 new holes on frame) and I seem to get only 3 holes per drill bit. Isnt it frustrating to keep having to buy replacment parts like that? :?

One bit got so hot that is fused the metal on one side so it looked kinda like a bullet casing. I was oiling the bit, but
I was trying to finish one last hole and that sucker was smoking. hehe :D

Half way through your post, I was thinking oil. Maybe you just need to slow it down some :?

I used a Sawz-al for most of the cuts, and that works well.
As for the bits, I bought the ACE brand and I think they dont last as long
as say Maquita. I did slow it down with the bits and oiled them a bit more.

borrow a plasma cutter for the sheet and use some good name brand bits for drilling. like the post above says, slow it down.
