hi i own a 1990 toyota pickup 4x4 with a standard cab. it now has a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder and i was woundering if anyone knew how hard it is to put the toyota v6 in it. and what parts you need to do the swap. any help would be nice oh and i would put in a long block from a 1990 v6 so would i have to buy all new intake stuff and alternator and smog stuff that would go on the v6? or will any of the 4 cylinder stuff work?

save your pennies, the 3.0 V6 that toyota used from '88-95 in their trucks isn't worth the effort. the 3.4l V6 that they put in tacomas and 4runners starting in '96 is a great motor though, but it would still be a lot of work to drop it into a truck that originally had a 4 boinger

my suggestion: look for an I6 from an '82-90something supra and put that in. it'll bolt on to your stock engine mounts and 4 banger tranny, just takes some clearancing in the engine bay since it's a lot longer than the 4cyl. check this site out, this guy's done a lot of these swaps: http://www.supracharged.com
