alright guys maybe you can help me out.

i have a 88 accord that i'm fussing with.
i've already done a tranny swap on it and i think i have to do it again ( i think i got a bad one ).

i'm no longer driving it and the only reason i'm going to fix it because i want to sell it so i can get a bike.

well, okay,
i'm stumped on this.
it's a maual and when i first let off the clutch from a stopped point, it kinda does a small lung forward. whenever it's not in gear and is still rolling you can hear something rattling in the tranny.

it sounds like to me a fork off the clutch plate has snapped and is rolling around in the bellhousing ?????

has anybody ever heard of this before???

i just want to get it fixed so i can sell the shit.

having the luv and the new blazer i already spend enough money. if i don't get the bike i plan on dropping the money into the luv :D

Sounds like you just picked up an already used and abused tranny, any source of repair funding for it should just go into purchasing another used tranny, for what there worth to pick up used its better then buying parts i think. Just my two cents. Don't worry i think we have all had those deals....5 miles down the road you figured out why you only paid 50 bucks for it.....

Kinda sounds like a clutch problem to me. The "used and abused" tranny theory is a good one also. Did you get the tranny from a reputable person or outfit?

Having worked for Honda for a number of years I can say if your clutch fork is broken then you will not have a clutch at all. This means you can not get it into gear when it is running. As for the noise it is possible the shifter forks inside the trans have broken. for the cost sf a salvaged trans that is the best way to go it does get rather expensive to go into them and make repairs......

hope this helps a bit

i bought it at a junkyard for 70 bucks.
the reason i switched it out is the tranny i had no 5th gear in it.
i pulled the tranny from a 89 accord that had 250,000 miles on it.
it looked good when i pulled it, shifted good and everything. it was the only one in the yard that would work and it caught me at a bad time so i had to pull that one

i'm just going to pull the 5th gear out of this one and put it in my old tranny thats sitting in the bed of the luv.

now that is a smart and fast fix ...only takes about 10 min to swap the 5 th gear set out and you dont even have to take the whole thing apart to do it ...just the side cover off of it.. The reason they burn out 5 th gear is no lube... just a little low on trans grea oil and it will happen again...they only oil from splash off the other gears .....

Good luck

i got under the honda last night and started to put fluid in the tranny. it was coming right back out somewhere up top so i jacked it up more and looked up and saw that i have a 3 inch wide hole right above the clutch. so the rattle i was hearing is a piece of the bell housing :x

i have a another tranny so i'm going to swap them out this weekend.
i'm just going to fix it so i can sell it for a bike :D

man, i'm glad i got that blazer. that 4.3 vortec is nice 8) i've only driven the honda twice in about 2 months
