Does anyone know of a web page that has info on tire specs for B.F.Goodrich Radial T/A's? I'd like to try and figure out the exact tires i need for my truck. Im want to find the correct tire with the right height, tread width to match the rim size. The tires i have right now are miss-matched. My used, front tires are noticably taller than the rear so i'd like to go to a tire dealer with a specific tire size. This way i'll know exactly what im getting and i dont have to put up with a salesman that may want to sell me something i dont want. Thanks...

best thing to do is calculate tire aspect ratio etc. with the formula.

cant remember if off the top of my head. Something like multiply the number (e.g. 275 or 235 etc.) by .03937 to convert to inches and that will give you the width. then the series is a percentage of the width which gives you the sidewall height... you double that number for the top sidewall and the bottom sidewall and add 15" or 16" or whatever diameter your rim is and that will give you overall tire height. Lemme look for the formula...
I thnk tires.com used to have an aspect ratio calculator on the site but can search around the net for one.

This is my problem... I have P265/60R-14 tires on the rear with 8" wide rims. Up front i have P225/70R-14 tires with 8" wide rims. The rear tires have a 25" diameter. The front tires have a noticably taller diameter. I'd like to find a tire that is a 70 series for a 8" wide rim that has a diameter of 25" or less. If i cant find something suitable, i will continue to use the setup i have until i wear out the rear tires and then get all new 15" tires and rims. Having 14" aftermarket rims has been a problem since i got the truck back on the road. They are miss-matched from front and rear because new 14" rims are as common as dinosaur eggs. I got used rims to fit the reworked hubs (5 lug) and used T/A tires that had enough tread to pass state inspection. I concidered installing the rear rims up front and buying new 15" rims with new tires for the rear so i could get rims that were a closer match to the Progressive rims but the idea of running a 60 series tire up front was out of the question.

here:

225mm x .03937 = 8.85"
8.85" x.70 = 6.20"
6.20" x 2 = 12.40"
12.40" + 14" = 26.40 diameter for 225/70-14

265 x .03937 = 10.43
10.43 x .60 = 6.25
6.25 x 2 = 12.50
12.50 + 14 = 26.50" diameter for 265/60-14

This is the formula that tire manufacturers are supposed to go by. Give or take a few tenths of an inch. You could try going by a used tire shop and see if you can look at their stock and maybe they will let you measure them. otherwise I would look up all of BFG's 70' series tire sizes and start plugging them into the formula.

I went to the B.F. Goodrich website and after looking a little closer, i found the page that has specific tire info( it's a pdf file that i downloaded). As it turns out, my front tires are 2" taller than the rear. If i go with a P185 tire, it will be a good match in tire size to the rear but they need to be mounted to a narrower rim. I might try it anyways because the truck doesn't live at the top of the speed rating range. It's gonna take forever to wear down the rear tires before i go for a new wheel and tire setup on the truck. I didn't have many options when it came to get the truck back on the road and still wanting to utilize the rear tires and rims that i bought years earlier( they were for the Ford 9" axle) and losing on the $450 cost of the setup wasn't practical. At least now i have an idea of what to do.
