This is probably another dumb question that I have been playing with in my head. I downloaded the Comp cams Cam Quest 6 program a while back. Now I know that a computer program that isnt all that detailed is probably going to be close but not 100% accurate. I set up the program plugged in all the info as close to being accurate as I possibly could under rating my info where I wasnt a 100% positive. I found a cam the XM-278 Extreme Marine cam. The program gave me the highest HP and torque numbers by quite a bit compared to any of the other cams. Now since this is a jet boat cam how would it work on the street in a truck? I plan on buying a 3000-3500 RPM stall converter for my project motor I am kind of working on right now.

Is your project motor gonna be for a street truck or strictly strip. If street, why do you want such a high stahl convertor?

The truck is going to be both street and strip. I found out more info on the cam and 2500 stall is good for it. I want to get squeeze as much power out of it as possible and if that means a somewhat fairly loose converter so its not a turd on the street I am willing to go that route. I have 4.10s in the rear and 2 trans coolers and a 2500 RPM converter allready in the truck, so I really dont see it as a problem. The trans temp guage never sees much over 100* F.

I dont have any trouble driving around town other than slow people in front of me. I have more trouble with my locker doing evil things while cornering than anything else.

i run a 3500 stahl on the street with no problems in my luv , and actually thinking of going a bit higher as my 3500 actually stahls at about 27 or 2800

I didnt think a 3500 stall would be bad on the street. Like luv2gofast said his stalls lower than advertised. There are a lot of factors involved that determine where you end up as far as actuall stall. I know someone that runs something like a 4800 converter on the street and doesnt have too many problems other than a small hill or two in the road.

Beats me, I am still not sure about stahls. I wanted to go to a 3000 but was told if I had that high I couldn't hardly get off a trailor.
I don't want something I have to get to 3,000 rpms before I can go. Need to do something before I get everything set in permanent. Was also told in my 700r4 with that high my overdrive would not work right.

Im not sure about the 700 R4 but Im sure with a 3000 RPM converter and a trans with overdrive you probably wouldnt be spinning the motor hard enough to keep it above the actuall stall speed. There alot of factors that are involved like torque, veh. weight etc that actually make a set stall converter stall at a certain RPM. For example if you use a stock converter from lets say a V-6 like a 4.3 and then you put that converter behind a v-8 like a 350 or a 383 you are going to see a higher stall speed not a whole lot but probably enough to notice. I have never tried this but I have heard from several people that if you use a converter made for a Vega and use it in a moderate V-8 set up I have heard up to like 2500 RPM stall speed out of a vega converter. I guess you could call it the poor mans stall converter or back in the old school days that was probably a hot ticket to a low dollar street machine.
