Was just curious, does anyone know for sure if a stock 2 wheel drive Luv will get better gas milage than a 4x4. have never drove a stock 2 wheel drive enough to know.

Thats what Chevy says. I believe the 2wd is 28/31, whereas the 4x4 is about 25/27.


My guess would be that the 4x4's are geared lower.

I have a 79 2 wd, all the smog stuff off, and I get 23 to 25 mpg. I do live @ 5700 feet above sea level. I think that makes a difference.

Don't know about the gears,but more weight and more resistance spells lower fuel mileage to me.

How much is another story.

Was just curious to look for 2 wheel or 4x again.ound the 4x close enough. Don't think the difference would be much then. On a 2x you could put an s-10 rear in I suppose with higher gears. Would still think it would have enough low end to get going.
