Having grenades many a stock reared, I recommend using something else... X2 on the above. 4X4 Chevy LUVs came with an Isuzu corporate 10-bolt rear (7.64" ring gear) & 8-bolt front (+/- 7" ring gear) open differentials in 4.10 gear ratio. Neither is strong enough for multiple 4-wheel b... |

GL-5 gear lube, 90w works for most average temps, use thinner for extra cold, thicker for extra hot. Rear differential uses the same. Capacity is 1.7 pints, so a single quart bottle will refill. In reality fill until the lube runs out the fill hole with the truck sitting level. |

See if your points are burnt really bad or maybe even stuck together. A too close point gap & the engine will crank bur not fire. Once it's running again then work on the gen light. |

Would it be a good idea to grind down the intake valves at all or would that be unsafe? Also should I just use the metal tensioner from the g200 kit and keep everything the same from the g180 kit? Lastly does anyone know a good place to get thr bigger valves and better springs maybe? Thanks! -"... |

G200Z head has smaller intake valves than a G180Z prior to about '79. You can install larger valves, like from a 4ZD1, maybe even a 4ZE1. Check with ozgemini(?) to see what will fit. A G200 head will lower compression about a full point, the overbore will bring it back some. A G200 uses a different ... |

A '75 used a G180 engine, a '79 a completely different G180Z engine. I would be very surprised if they used the same fan shroud. Also a '79/'80 w/AC uses a different should than say a '78 wo/AC- it's noticeably wider along with a matching larger radiator. Your best bet would be a shroud to match you... |

Probably not, just not cost effective. The entire adapter kit is about $60, includes two plates, three gaskets, some studs & some socket-head screws. By the time you machined the plates & sourced all the exact correct parts & materials you would likely approach the retail cost of the kit. |

You location is critical since shipping will be a big part of the transaction, especially with something like a fuel tank that may have special restrictions. |

It's a Dana 30, probably from a Jeep, modified to use the stock LUV 6-bolt rotors & calipers. Every 4x4 conversion kit of the day used a similar axle, LUVs, Ford Couriers & Datsuns used 6-bolt fronts to match the stock rears, Toyota used large 5-bolt fronts & a small-to-large 5-bolt adap... |

Yes, but not with a Toyota axle. Back before factory mini truck 4x4s hit the market in 1979 this was a popular mod, even available from dealers, which is where I got mine. |

Sure. The Toyota axle is the most popular for two reasons- width & lug pattern. LUV axle width is 54", a Toy pickup/4Runner front axle is 55-1/2", all share the same 6x5.5" lug pattern so the stock rear axle could be retained. About the only other axles that are close to the corre... |

Check your point gap, LUV points are prone to burning/sticking together, then pulling apart leaving a crater on one side & a mound on the other. This changes the point gap, the smaller the point gap the harder it starts, if the point gap is too small the truck won't start at all. Plus the point ... |

To diesel owners: are the diesel C223 & gas G200Z flywheels the same? I know they both use the same clutch & I think the diesel has a 6-bolt crank like the gas, but are they somehow different, like a different diameter or weight or ring gear tooth count? |

Rockauto also has them new. No, they don't. Rockauto's is the 8-bolt flywheel for the 4Z## series engine, not the 6-bolt flywheel for the G180-G200Z series engines. Every parts supplier that I have checked (including Fidanza) offers this same 8-bolt flywheel, it simply won't bolt up to a G-series 6... |

jlemond@bellsouth.com Email Jerry Lemond at the above address. He had both new & used at one time, I went with new so no resurfacing. Your truck should use the 6-bolt flywheel with the 8-1/2" clutch, not the 8" clutch, but confirm, the clutch bolt patterns are different. If your truck ... |

One other thing to check is the wiper transmission (that's what the linkage from the motor to the wipers themselves is called). The linkage on my LUV got so rusty the motor didn't have enough power to cycle the wipers, the electrical was fine. On my truck it's very difficult to get to & oil incl... |
